Bringing in the harvest…
Down In the Valley
Here are some things to do while you are wandering in the valley of discouragement and despair.
Life is unfair at times. At other times, life doesn’t make sense. What do you do when life throws you a curve ball causing you to spiral downward into a valley of discouragement and despair?
Here are some things that could boost your spirit and set you on your way to a more joyful existence.
1. Lift up your head. (“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1, KJV) Refocus your energy into a hobby, sport or other activity. Sometimes, doing this allows you to look at things differently. You might gain a fresh perspective about your situation.
2. Lift up your hands. (“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this…” Psalm 37:5, NIV) Renew your trust in the Lord. Begin to praise God for your dilemma. Place your hand in His as you allow Him to lead you out of the depths of the depression and into the light of His glorious love.
3. Lift up your heart. (“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” Psalm 31:24, NIV). Replace your despair with hope. When your back is against the wall or you have lost your way, expect Christ to show you what to do. Depend upon Him for the answers you seek. If you do this, you will strengthen your heart and begin to see how well you are able to survive with His help. After all, Jesus is the only hope we have in this broken and dysfunctional world.
