“Reversed! The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of reversed principles and priorities. Jesus said, “The first shall be last and the last first.” The Lord puts the people last, whom the world puts first.

The Glory of the King and His Kingdom

We hear about radical politicians, but there has never been one yet who reversed the ways of the world and its materialism and godlessness.  Yet, when Paul and Silas went to Thessalonica, the Jews “which believed not” said, “these that have turned the world upside down are come hither also.” Unbelief had disturbed their eyesight. But, for their distorted vision, they would have seen that the world was already upside down. That’s why they had come, to put it the right way up.

We are so used to the world despite the warning of Scripture that the world is an enemy of God. Its standards are the opposite of all God wants. Money is at the top.  People with money are at the top and are the privileged. The rest may grovel. Big business crushes the little people. Achieve greatness by standing on everybody else’s shoulders, and you will be honoured and envied. The trials of ordinary people cannot touch the world’s greats.

Reversed Principles and Priorities

But, the Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of reversed principles and priorities. Jesus said, “The first shall be last and the last first.” The Lord puts the people last, whom the world puts first. First in the Kingdom of Christ are they that mourn. They may not be laughing all the way to the bank with fat profits. Next, blessed are the meek, not those who walk on others to get to the front. The humble shall upstage the proud. Blessed are they, which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, not those who change their politics to catch votes. Blessed are the merciful, not the vengeful, the retaliators. Blessed are the pure in heart, not the devious. Then follow the peacemakers, not the war makers, and the persecuted not the compromiser.

Who is the Greatest in His Kingdom?

Who is the greatest in His Kingdom? Maybe the unknown, but for sure, the one who serves without ulterior motive. The greatest of all is the One who took a towel and washed the disciples feet, and then when water would not do, poured out His life’s blood for human cleansing. What a Servant, to wash the feet of all mankind!

He is the One we shall see. “They shall look upon Him whom they have pierced”  that is His special identity; the pierced one. And “He shall see of the travail of His soul and be satisfied.” His coming in glory will be with His saints; the bloodwashed ones. Not the sycophants, the pushful, the social climbers, the name droppers, the collectors of wealth and Oscars, cups and medals, but the redeemed. He redeemed them, sought them, found them, and glorified them!

What glory! The odious He perfumed with grace. The polluted now clothed in righteousness. The unclean washed with His tears, prayed for under the olive trees of Gethsemane with sweat of blood, being captured by the Captive on the Tree.

The Saints In Light

Look at them! What a blaze of glory glittering down this endless stream of redeemed humanity. Here is one of the firsts, a beautiful woman, Mary, once torn with seven devils, who sat with heartbreaking longing and love near his empty tomb, His everlasting worshipper. Here is Peter, upon whom Jesus worked so hard to make anything of him, now splendid in Divine light. Paul who persecuted him. The thief who mocked him. Zacchaeus who received a heart of gold at the touch of Jesus. Come down the long centuries. Dedicated lovers of Jesus, martyrs, apostles, saints, men who praised God while their fingers burned like tapers, see them the evangelists, the pastors, the missionaries, the humble workers, the faithful. You…Jack and Jill, Bob and Bess, including me…. even me. He saved a poor sinner like me! HERE WE ARE, AND THERE WE SHALL BE, THE SAINTS IN LIGHT, THE TRIUMPHS OF HIS GRACE, from all tribes, all colours, all ranks, and all His glory. Adulterers, homosexuals, thieves, liars, perverts, witches, murderers, addicts, Satanists, the covetous, the idolaters, the unclean, the sophisticated and unsophisticated, the learned and the simple, WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS!

The glory of the King. “Look ye saints the sight is glorious!” The Church of the Living God. The City of God. The Bride of the Lamb. This is the population of the wonderful King of the Kingdom of God!
